Sensations

Originally entitled Sensations Of 1945, this black and white musical from Republic has a storyline expediently designed to showcase a variety of acts of the day. Some are minor circus performers, including a dancing horse, but the ones of principal interest today include W.C.Fields in his last screen appearance, Cab Calloway doing an energetic rendition of "We're The Cats To Hep Ya", unfortunately interspersed with bits of narrative development, and Woody Herman and his troupe vamping it up big band style. Eleanor Powell works her gams for the last time before retiring to marry Glenn Ford, only returning to the silver screen for a brief appearance in the 1950 Esther Williams MGM movie, The Duchess Of Idaho.
