Bob Crosby wasn't in the same league as his brother as a singer but he had a respectable career as a swing band leader. This low budget musical, scripted, surprisingly enough, by Nathanael West who wrote the original text for The Day Of the Locust, which was adapted by Waldo Salt for the 1975 John Schlesinger film of the same name, comes up with the odd idea of a 60 year old school marm who pens a hit tune and has her moment in the sun as a novelty act in front of Bob's band.
Strictly for fans of the era's music and even then there's not a whole lot in it although the showpiece number "Big Noise From Winnetka", penned by Cosby with drummer Ray Bauduc and bassist Bob Haggart who share the solos at the song's end, was a big hit at the time and is an entertaining little toe-tapper.
